5 Children’s Star Wars Books Every Star Wars Fan Needs

We are full-on Star Wars fans in our house. In elementary school, I watched Star Wars films IV – VI every Friday night sleepover. I can recall a specific moment standing on the side of our house taking out the trash cans (kids doing chores!) and talking to a friend about when the “new” Star Wars movies would come out (I-III). My husband also grew up enjoying Star Wars in addition to other Sci-Fi movies and shows, so it was no wonder that when we had children, we would start the love of Star Wars early with children’s books. Over the past decade we have found and gathered these books and share them now in preparation to celebrate May the 4th at home.

This is not a sponsored post, these are books we know and have enjoyed as a family. I have provided a link to the best deals for each option on the date of this post. There are also second-hand options available, which I did not link. (Some of the Amazon links may lead to a small commission, if you use them. I linked to the best prices available, from any seller.)

Star Wars A B C

This board book introduces little ones to the alphabet and iconic characters from Star Wars. Admittedly, I lost a few nerd points because there are characters mentioned, Zam, that I did not know, but when you need to represent A-Z, you have to reach into the vaults of information. When A was learning her alphabet, she would say things like “X-wing X” and “Wookie W” which was pretty amazing. This isn’t going to turn your child to the dark side, or even convince them to use the force, but it will introduce them to the lingo of the Star Wars films while also teaching them the alphabet!

Goodnight Darth Vader

In this alternate universe, Darth Vader is balancing fatherhood with running the Imperial forces ruling the galaxy. It is a cartoon format and absolutely hilarious. This story follows along as Darth Vader reads a bedtime story to his rebellious children, and it is obvious that even in space, parenting is hard.

There are several books in this line which add to this alternate storyline. It is sweet to imagine Darth as a father figure navigating Leia’s teen years and clothing choices, along with Luke’s training desires. The kids enjoy the stories, and the adults enjoy reading them. The author of the line, Jeffrey Brown, does a wonderful job illustrating and creating believable and funny storylines.

I Am A Princess(Star Wars)

The Golden Book lists the qualities Princess Leia portrayed throughout the movies. It showcases that princesses are fierce problem solvers and are active in their own story. While the kids do not notice it consciously, this books allows them the opportunity to self-identify which qualities they share with the Leia. Bonus that it is less than $4 on Amazon!

There is an entire line of Star Wars Golden Books including I am a Jedi, I am a Hero and I am a Wookie. We don’t own those…yet.

Jedi Academy Chapter Books

An offshoot of the films, these books follows students of Jedi Academy where they are trained by Jedi Masters all while growing and navigating the usual, and not so usual, challenges of school. Our first grader is enjoying the Christina Starspeeder stories and her sweet pet Fluffernut. The books are a mix of journal entries, comics and artwork which is appealing to young readers, and keeps them engaged in the story. They are rated for grade level 3-7 and ages 8-12.

BB-8 on the Run

This one is a recent add to our collection within the last year. Our family dressed as Han, Leia, Rey and BB-8 for Star Wars Day at Disneyland a couple of years ago, and since then anything BB-8 is adored. The story follows BB-8 on Jakku as he works to help the resistance after he gets separated from Po. The beautiful pictures compliment the story, and add to the colorful tale.

BONUS!Watch Daisy Ridley (Rey herself!) read it on Disney’s YouTube channel. It’s cheaper on Amazon for the kindle version, but the cheapest hardbook was found on Barnes and Noble online.

We will celebrate May the 4th with Star Wars-themed food and crafts. And just may dress up too. We will probably read these books, but that is no different from any other day in our house.

May the Force be with you!

If you are looking for more Star Wars – check out our post on Galaxy’s Edge at Disneyland. More Star Wars at home posts are coming.

Virtual Spring Break Day 1: Disney!

Grab your map, and let’s head into the park(s)! No need to read height requirements – everyone can ride when it is virtual!

We started our virtual Disney day with a hearty breakfast to get us ready for the busy day.

Rides

There are so many POVs on YouTube and we gathered our favorites, got them queued up and ready for a ride marathon. I do not have associations with these accounts, there are just our favorite rides and POVs.

Disneyland

Splash Mountain – Front Row seats, feels like you are there, minus getting wet and holding onto dear life onto the then brave five year old!

The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh – Skip to 1:46 to be on the ride, but the before part of the queue allowed us to discuss how much fun we have had on this ride as a family.

Big Thunder Mountain – Get ready for the wildest ride in the Wilderness! (Totally heard that with the accent in my head). This ride is both tracks.

Space Mountain – Please secure your hats and ears and keep all hands up for the entire ride 😉

Hyperspace Mountain – A favorite version of Space Mountain – it’s been Star Wars attacked!

The Enchanted Tiki Room – Wake up from your siesta to enjoy the musical stylings of our favorite animatronic birds!

Matterhorn – The Yeti doesn’t seem as scary on the tv screen!

A Small World Holiday – Love the holiday lights and additions to this classic ride.

Storybook Land Canal Boats – Bonus, have the kids “sit on the bow” just like they do on the real ride.

Haunted Mansion Holiday – Chose the holiday version for DL since it does get the makeover, and we can do the regular haunting spooks at World. Skip to 1:00 to join the queue. This is the real ride experience complete with the ride stopping because those ghosts are meddling 🙂

Pirates of the Caribbean – Fun fact: the longest Pirate ride is at Disneyland.

Sleeping Beauty Castle Walkthrough – A unique feature to Disneyland, this “hidden” gem is a favorite of ours, especially a break from the crowds.

Where to next?

Disney California Adventure

Soarin’ Over California – Get your feet up for this favorite of ours. Totally opened an orange when over the orange groves to get that smell of the orange blossoms.

Radiator Racers – Gather all the racers for a family fun race in Radiator Springs!

Luigi’s Rollickin’ Roadsters – So glad they changed to this version of the ride after the opening of Carsland. Lets-a ride!

Mission BreakOUT! (at night!) – If only we could ride this ride over and over with the different parts!

Storybook Land Canal Boots

Magic Kingdom

It’s A Small World – This is a favorite in our house, and cannot count the number of times we have ridden it (albeit, mostly at Disneyland).

Peter Pan’s Flight – Only sad part is I can’t find a video with the amazing interactive queue. Skip to 1:21 to hop aboard your ship!

Under The Sea – Journey of the Little Mermaid – Queue and ride. The ride is essentially the same as the one at Disney California Adventure, with a detailed ocean-themed queue.

Seven Dwarves Mine Train Ride – AKA in our house as “the hi-ho ride”

The People Mover – No longer at Disneyland, we make sure to ride the People Mover over and over when visiting Disney World. A virtual visit meant this had to be on the list.

Carousel of Progress – A favorite in our house. This POV is toward the front. If you want a view from the back, check this one out.

Buzz Lightyears Space Ranger Spin – It feels like a real rendezvous with Buzz!

Haunted Mansion – Those happy haunts just want to come out and socialize!

Feet up on Soarin’ Over California

EPCOT

Spaceship Earth – Ah….a classic EPCOT ride, and while it has been updated since the beginning, the sentiment continues.

Test TrackI feel the need, the need for speed…wait, that is the wrong franchise.

Figment – Journey into Imagination – Don’t skip the queue on this one! Love the nostalgia of the pictures of Robin Williams from Flubber and Rick Moranis from Honey, I Shrunk the Kids. Ah, the 90s.

Living With the Land – I am not completely sure why we enjoy this ride so much, but it is not to be missed when we visit.

Soarin’ Around the World – **Now Boarding**

The Seas with Nemo and Friends – Because it’s a big blue world!

Frozen Ever After – Aw, Sven got his tongue stuck to ice again.

**Break for lunch – eat any cuisine and you’ve travelled “around the world” at EPCOT **

For an additional virtual experience, I downloaded the FREE KidStir Spring Break Virtual Tour. Day one of the virtual vacation to Europe was to Britain. We didn’t have all the ingredients for the sun tea, so we made some of our loose leaf Merry Tea. Enjoyed some cucumber sandwiches as a snack. The Stonehenge video from KidStir was watched while we enjoyed our snack, a break from all those energizing rides!

Big Thunder Mountain – Arms up on the hills!

Animal Kingdom

Expedition Everest – A first for both girls since neither was tall enough at our last visit. I wonder why there are so many Yeti at Disney parks

Dinosaur – Another ride the girls hadn’t been on before.

Disney Magic Moments from Home – Kilimanjaro Safaris – a cast member and driver for the ride remade the ride at home, and Disney shared it on their Instagram! Their favorite part was the reminder to Reduce, Reuse and Recycle!

Kilimanjaro Safaris POV – Jambo! After the sweet at home version, we enjoyed watching the POV and reminiscing on our last visit to the Animal Kingdom.

Hollywood Studios

Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railroad – this was a treat because we haven’t been on the ride yet (it isn’t opening at Toon Town in Disneyland until 2022). It was fun to experience it all as a family!

Star Wars – Rise of the Resistance – This includes the “pre-show,” aka the full experience of the ride.

Smuggler’s Run (Millennium Falcon Ride) – This video gives a view of the biggest hunk of junk in the galaxy, the entire queue and then ultimately the ride. For the pilot’s view of the Falcon, check it out here.

Toy Story Midway Mania – You’ve got a friend on this ride…somewhere. This POV goes through the entire queue, enough to get nostalgic listening to the music.

Slinky Dog Dash – Hey Howdy Hey! – Skip to 0:40 to jump in the queue. It looks like this was taken at a media day or just at opening with the mass of cameras in the first few seconds.

Lightning McQueen’s Racing Academy – We haven’t seen this in person yet, but oh my goodness, it felt like we were riding along with him on training.

Fantasmic! Show – Many a night at Hollywood Studios, MGM Studios or Disney Studios were ended with fireworks and a show, and it seems fitting to end our day of Disney adventure here.

Entertainment

Dapper Dans – The Dapper Dans virtually gathered and sang from home in this beautiful rendition of their croonings. If you close your eyes, it feels like you are there.

EPCOT’s JAMMitors – we have watched these fab three jam out in the parks, and they made an “at home” version to be enjoyed from everywhere!

“Magic Happens” Parade – Another magical moment from the Disney.com website of virtual viewing of the parade!

Snacks

Peanut Butter Square: True fact – this is by far my favorite treat from Disneyland. Also fact, still had a sliver of one in the fridge from my last visit there. We made them after “exploring” Disneyland in the morning so they could set up. They are truly quarantine peanut butter squares as we had to substitute and make do with what we had, but it was fun to make together and they were delicious!

Dole Whip: With the help of our Vitamix, we mixed crushed Pineapple, coconut cream and ice together to make our version of the Dole Whip. It doesn’t have the same ambience as being in Adventureland, but aren’t we all in our own version of Adventureland now? Blended the below ingredients up in the Vitamix, poured into cups and put in the freezer to firm up a bit.

  • 2 cans (20 oz) of crushed Dole Pineapple (emptied and frozen overnight)
  • 1 can of coconut cream
  • 1/4 cup of ice (3 ice cubes)
  • 2 TBSP Sugar
  • Splash of Lime Juice

Clothes

Much to hubby’s chagrin, I often plan out our outfits for Disney trips, and this trip at home was no different. Complete with ears for all of us girls.

Coloring

Keeping up with our nightly activity of coloring as a family, printed this Lightning McQueen coloring sheet for each of us to color.

Tech Tips

Make sure your display is on “best” so you can get the video clarity on your tv.

There will still be commercials, which obviously do not exist on a real trip to Disney, but time wise it is less than walking and waiting in line.

Happy virtual Disney day! Follow our Instagram for more Disney tips!

Oogie Boogie Bash at Disneyland

This year is the inaugural year that Oogie Boogie takes over Disney California Adventure Park (DCA) for a Halloween party (instead of Disneyland). The tickets went on sale this spring and sold out a few weeks ago. If you have a ticket, this post is for you! If you don’t have a ticket, this is still for you to know what to expect as this party will likely be back for years to come! Like entrance into Disneyland, a ticket is required for each person age 3 and up.

With your party ticket, you get a wristband that allows you access to the event and a trick or treat bag (one per ticketed individual) and Photo Pass is included!

Characters

For party nights, Mickey, Minnie, Donald and Goofy can be found in special Halloween outfits.
In Carthay Circle, Pinocchio and the Blue Fairy or Snow White and Dopey were out for greetings and photos. I can’t remember the last time we saw the Blue Fairy out!
By Soarin’, classics like Chip and Dale Rescue Rangers and Baloo and Don Karnage were available for meet and greet and photos. These are rare character finds and such fun for those of us who remember watching these beloved shows as kids.
Near the Grizzly Peak ride, The Sherriff of Nottingham from Robin Hood, Shan Yu from Mulan, Prince John from Robin Hood, Governor Radcliffe from Pocohontas and Claude Frollo from Hunchback of Notre Dame were available on a rotating basis with themed backdrops.
Kim Possible and Ron Stoppable were in the Pacific Wharf for photos, rotating with Phineas and Ferb.
Carlsland was aglow with Halloween lights and decorations! Lightning McQueen and Mater were dressed in their costumes and picture ready.
For the princess fans, Anna and Elsa are available in the air-conditioned halls of Disney Animation just after the Oogie Boogie Treat Trail. We waited a whole three minutes to see them and they spent at least five minutes talking to our kiddos who were in awe of it all.

Celebrity Sighting!

We didn’t make it to Pixar Bandshell on Pixar Pier, but there are rotating Pixar characters there, but unsure which ones. The Incredibles, Frozone and Edna Mode were rumored to be around the Incredicoaster.

Photos

Photo Pass is included in your party ticket – so take advantage of this!  Get quality family photos with characters! There were photographers at every character station (including Anna and Elsa where there isn’t always a photographer on non-party hours) and they were great at capturing those moments you will want to remember for your trip.

Treat Trails

Is that Johnny Depp?

This is the biggest difference from previous Halloween parties at Disneyland. Most of the trails were interactive with characters in them. For instance by the Hyperion theater, the Mad Hatter was there sitting and joking along with gas. In Studio 17, Dr. Facilier was there ready to read your fortune. By Soarin’, Maleficent was there to greet guests while getting their treats.
This added an interactive element to the trails that was fun and enjoyable. We looked forward to seeing who was in the next trail that we found. For more detailed information on trails, check out Gothic Rosie’s daily information.

If you’re looking for one treat trail check out, the one by the Jumping Jellyfish had the most back to back to treat carts.

Most treat carts offer an alternative to candy like grapes, carrots, apples and freeze dried Apples. Our favorite was Pirate Booty. There was plenty of candy too, and it is nice to have a healthier snack along the way.

Mickey’s Trick & Treat

This was seriously so cute!

The Disney Jr stage is taken over by a not-so-spooky show of song and dance featuring Mickey, Minnie, Goofy and Donald. The children and kid within you will dance and sing! If you have a kid 10 and under, this will be a must do on your list. We hit up the first show of Mickey’s Trick & Treat and are so glad we did.
Times: 6:25pm, 7:10pm, 7:55pm, 9:25pm, 10:15pm

DescenDANCE

In the Hollywood Backlot, the Descendants have taken over the stage with a song and dance party – cleverly named the DescenDANCE. If your kiddo reads or watches Descendants, make sure to check out this show.
Times: 6:15pm, 7:30 pm, 8:45pm, 9:45pm and 10:30pm

Carsland gets a total makeover!

Villains Grove

Redwood Creek Trail has a villains makeover with lights, candelabras, and projections along the trail. We were told it wasn’t scary and it looked well done, but for a kiddo that spooks easily we opted out. There is still so much to do throughout the park and given that there is a separate entrance to the trail, it can be walked past without much notice by older children. Read more about Villains Grove here.

Frightfully Fun Parade

Because there are large walkways at DCA, the parade has ample seating. You could walk up within 15 minutes of a parade start and still have an excellent seat. This can be unprecedented at other parades and added to the enjoyable experience. There is only one parade, so if you want to see it, plan accordingly.

World of Color

This is Villainous! Show is shown twice on Halloween nights.  We were able to stroll up to the last show of the evening with two minutes before start and get a good view for those of us standing and in the stroller (who were actually awake!).

Rides

No to low lines for Characters and rides!

Don’t forget the rides! While some are themed for Halloween, the lines for rides on the whole are empty or very low. For instance, Radiator Racers which usually has an hour plus wait was less than 10 minutes to ride at night! If there is ride in DCA that you have wanted to ride and you don’t have Max Pass or couldn’t get a Fast Pass, now is your chance!

Things to consider:

  • Party times are 2-11 on Sundays and 3-11 on every other party day. With this, consider your child’s age and bedtime. If your child wants to go but is in bed by 6 every night, this party probably isn’t worth your money.
  • There are dark effects like fog and spooky music, is this makes you uncomfortable, skip this party.
  • Wear comfortable shoes. This is still a park day, there is walking involved.
  • Rides around Pixar Pier close 15 minutes before and during World of Color (except the Incredicoaster and Toy Story Mania), so don’t rush to a ride there if you are within that window.

Is it Worth It?

Yes.

Low crowds: It may seem like a lot of money. $110 – $140 for 8-9 hours of party. Most party days allow “mix-in” at 3 pm with non-tickets guests or 2pm on Sundays. This is the peak time of crowd, but the beauty is that it will continue to thin out meaning brief waits for rides, characters and treats!

Unique Character Interactions: Thinned crowds mean you and your children can interact with characters, and characters who are not always in the park! Our whole family was giddy seeing Chip and Dale Rescue Rangers. Honestly, every time we see Chip and Dale in the park we sing the Rescue Rangers Theme (including the older kiddo!) so seeing them in full costume was a great throwback!

Photo Pass!: The added bonus of included photos which are normally an additional cost is a welcome treat! (Ha! See what I did there?)

Treats: The trails provide safe trick or treating. No need to check through the candy or treats, rest assured these treats were checked before their arrival in park. If you have older children, this allows for them to trick or treat in a safe environment. You can share the Disney love by handing out the Disney candy on Halloween knowing that you already Trick or Treated!

Disney Character Warehouse

Saving money and Disney vacation are not phrases you usually hear together. The Disney Character Warehouse is the answer to both these things. When on a vacation at the Disney World Parks, it is natural to want to bring home souvenirs. In Orlando, there are two Disney Character Warehouses where items from the parks are sold at a discounted price. Yes, Parks plural – merchandise from Disneyland, Disney World, Shanghai Disney, and Tokyo Disney were all seen while at a recent visit to these outlets. Disney Cruise Line items were there too!

A deal, PLUS BOGO 50% off!

Need to Know

There are two outlets:

  • Disney Character outlet at Orlando Vineland Premium Outlets
  • Disney Character outlet at Orlando International Outlets

There are similarities and differences between the outlets, as you would expect.  Vineland entrance pictured on left and International entrance pictured on right.

The Disney character outlet on Vineland is larger with the larger selection because it has a larger footprint, so if you have to choose just one – this would be the one to hit for variety and options.  There are bigger lines here if you go at a peak time. We saw several families have one adult stand in line while the rest shopped and kept bringing items to the person waiting in line. Lines at Vineland (L) and International (R)

Parking was difficult to find at both locations if you go during the day or a weekend. Take the first spot you see!  Going at night, there was ample parking.

Pricing:

Items rotate on a daily basis and are restocked overnight and throughout the day. If you are looking to purchase pins, they will be available at opening or in the off season per Cast Members at both locations.

Like any store not all prices are created equal. Some prices, like the candy, are the same prices that you will find in the parks or on resort property. Not every item is on sale, but it is for sale.

Summer is the time to find discounted Christmas decor it seems as Christmas ornaments were a great find for $2.99-$7.99.
If you are looking for ears, we found some for $7.99! That’s a deal compared to the $30 in the parks.
Items that were there during our visit or even the same day, may not always be there. Be prepared to soak it all in and decide.

Items

This is hard to write on because there is so much turn-over, but here is a list of items we did see on our visit.

  • Adult clothing: T-shirts, Shorts, Boxers, Underwear, Sweatshirts, Socks
  • Kids clothing: T-shirts, Shorts, Skirts, Dresses, Socks
  • Kids Costumes
  • Kitchenware
  • Seasonal Items: Ornaments, Holiday Tree Skirts, Luminaries
  • Lanyards, Pin Backs, Pins
  • Toys, Coloring kits
  • Ears and hats!
  • Photo Books and Frames
  • Plushies
  • Bubble Wands and Light up Toys

The variety of items was matched by the parks represented. If you went on a Disney Cruise this year, there were shirts, photo frames and albums galore!

There may not have the specific item you saw in the parks, but who knows – maybe they will!

Things to Consider:

If you are at WDW on vacation, you may not have a rental car.  Without a rental car, a trip to the outlets may require a Uber or Lyft for a visit. It may be worth the cost to get more items for less, or it may not depending on what you find there. YouTuber Tim Tracker has gone in the past and has videos of his finds, so maybe see if he has been recently if there is something you want. Keep in mind content in the store changes daily. While we were there items sold out in the morning!
It’s exciting to see what is on offer. At the end of the visit, you will have spent time with your family and maybe leave with a few magical items!

May your shopping visit be filled with fairy dust and fun!

Black Spire Outpost at Batuu, Galaxy’s Edge

When you enter Galaxy’s Edge you are transported onto the planet of Batuu at the outerlying outpost of Black Spire. In line with Disney storytelling, the sounds immediately reflect one of the forests around and of a busy space port. Sounds of ships flying overhead, the Falcon getting ready to fly and antennas communicating surround you. It feels like you are walking into a movie set. We have been to Tokyo Disney Sea and the feel of this land feels similar – the details are from floor to ceiling, seriously – look up!

Galaxy's Edge Batuu

As a Star Wars fan since the age of 8, I have long enjoyed the story of Star Wars. I have imagined the galaxy and played “light sabers” (sticks) with my friends. I can recall talking about the “new movies coming when I am older” – aka the Episode 1, 2 and 3 – and watching them in the theater. In fact, my family dressed as Star Wars characters for Star Wars night in 2018. Since the age of 1, the littlest one knew BB-8 and R2D2. Experiencing Galaxy’s Edge was, pardon the pun, out of this world.

When it was announced that Star Wars Land was coming to Disneyland and Disney World, I was excited but admittedly worried about the aesthetic of the land meshing with the rest of the park. I mean, what is you are a Disney family without being a Star Wars fan? And the break from Disneyland tradition with the addition of alcohol being served (gasp!). Without a doubt, they made sure the land fits right in. The rock formations of the outpost fit along with Frontierland and there is tree cover that you don’t feel a incongruity between the two worlds. The reason for the addition of alcohol is that what self-respecting space port wouldn’t have a cantina in it – Disney’s team wanted to continue the fluidity of the story.

Rides

Smuggler’s Run: The anchor attraction of riding in the Millennium Falcon was so much more than I expected. There are 6 seats when you arrive at the cockpit – two pilots, two gunners and two engineers. You will be handed a card with your job position on it, read the card. Yes, you will be distracted by the amazing ship around you, but you need to know what your job is to avoid crashing!

Star Wars Galaxy's Edge Millennium Falcon

Rise of the Resistance ride is coming later in 2019. We don’t know much about it except that you will be part of the resistance and your ship will be captured by the First Order! Watch out for Kylo Ren! The ride sounds like a Universe of Energy meets Disneyland Paris’ Ratatouille ride with an individual car vehicle, but time will tell!

Black Spire Outpost

Stop in the Marketplace, and make sure to stop in all the shops. There is a toy shop and a pet shop, outfitters and trinket shop. The toy shop has artisan-style toys representing the creatures that have passed through this now scoundrel-filled outpost. The pet shop has galactic creatures of all kinds up for adoption! Make sure to check out the sleeping loth-kitty, the mini tauntauns, kowakian monkey lizards and so many more! There is a hidden Resistance outfitter with gear needed for all younglings and Jedis and a First Order shop that would even make the Supreme Leader Kylo Ren happy.

Droid Depot Star Wars Galaxy's Edge

The Droid Depot is for making all things droid! You can make your R series or BB series custom droid for $99.99 with many accessories available. Pre-built droids are also for purchase. If you want a full-size R2-D2 unit, that will set you back $25,000 credits.  The cast members also shared that droids will interact with each other in the land as well as the environment around them. This added touch of interaction is a nod to the innovative technology of Galaxy’s Edge. The depot may require reservations, depending on the level of business (wc) while there.

Dok Ondar's Den of Antiquities Star Wars Galaxy's Edge

Take in everything at Dok Ondar’s Den of Antiquities. If you are a Star Wars fan you will recognize “antiques” from the Star Wars movies. The necklace that Leia worse is

Savi’s Workshop is where you can build a custom light saber. Reservations are required to build a light saber, dependent on the crowd level, but will provide a unique experience. Four hilts are up for choice and you select the kyber crystal (what powers the light saber) you want as well. The price tag of $200 prevented us from going in, but it was fun to see others wield their light sabers when the Stormtroopers came by for inspections.

Food

No space port, no matter how remote, would be without its food fare. There are many options on places to eat – read in detail about it here.

Disney Parks Play App

Do yourself a favor and download the Disney Parks Play App before you visit Galaxy’s Edge. The app adds a whole other level of interaction with the land around you. From the Millennium Falcon line queue to all around the outpost, there are dataports, droids and more that you can interact with from the app.  The Datapad has four functions: hack, translate, scan and tune. Hack into droids or dataports to help the Resistance hid from the First Order or help the First Order spy on the Resistance! Use the translate function to interpret alien language throughout the port. Scan containers to determine their cargo. Tune into conversations and communications to learn more about the story of the inhabitants of the post. We could have kept playing for hours! This is going to add another layer of detail and story-telling like no other previously experienced game play on the Disney Parks Play App.

Star Wars Galaxy's Edge, Millennium Falcon

MilMomAdventure Tips

  • Utilize Mobile Ordering where you can. Utilizing mobile ordering will allow for expedient service so you can enjoy all the food the outpost has to offer.
  • Use the app to check on reservation ability of Savi’s Workshop to build a lightsaber.
  • Download the Disney Parks Play app before you enter the land. Check out your profile and equipment before entering the land and prepare to interact wherever you go.
  • There will be lines, but utilizing the app will allow you to interact with the land, enjoy the sights, sounds and smells.

Will you visit Galaxy’s Edge at Disneyland or Disney World? It opens in Disney World August 29, 2019! Will you enjoy the lesser crowds in Disneyland? Or maybe wait a few years for the crowd levels to dissipate? Let us know! Check our Instagram highlight to see even more pictures and video from the land!
